CDFA Tax Credit Home Repair Program
Greater Nashua Habitat for Humanity — CDFA Tax Credit FAQ
What is the purpose of this program?
New Hampshire created the CDFA Tax Credit Program to encourage businesses to invest in local community projects. By donating to Greater Nashua Habitat for Humanity’s Home Repair Program, businesses can redirect part of the state taxes they already owe to keep low-income homeowners — including seniors, veterans and individuals with disabilities — safe in their homes.
Which taxes can my business apply credits toward?
Credits can be applied against your New Hampshire Business Profits Tax (BPT), Business Enterprise Tax (BET) or Insurance Premium Tax (IPT).
Do I have to use the entire credit in one year?
No. Your business can carry forward any unused credits for up to five years.
Is there a limit on the amount of credits?
Yes. A business can claim up to $1 million in CDFA tax credits in one fiscal year.
Is my contribution also a federal charitable deduction?
After CDFA receives your donation, it will send you a federal charitable contribution letter. Your accountant can advise on eligibility for the federal deduction.
Can we donate stock or securities instead of cash?
Yes. CDFA accepts stock and securities, valued based on net proceeds when sold.
We’re based outside New Hampshire — can we still participate?
Yes. Any business with employees in New Hampshire (and therefore paying the Business Enterprise Tax) can take advantage of the program.
