Women Build

Women Build 2024

Women Build 2024 is a fundraising campaign for a six-day build event in May. Women Build allows women to take a proactive step in serving their communities, joining our mission to provide homeownership opportunities to local families. Participants will sign up and commit to fundraise a minimum goal of $300. Funds raised will help offset costs for the build day as well as help fund the rising construction costs of making Iris’s home a reality.

Participants can select a preferred build day which will be confirmed on May 1st if the minimum goal is raised. We do encourage all participants to go above and beyond to make the greatest impact.

Women Build is also a terrific way to involve your friends and family (age 18+) in crucial work with a lasting impact. Women helping women sends a positive and powerful message. You can also join us solo and make new friends. The atmosphere is collaborative and friendly.

Since 1991, Women Build volunteers from all walks of life have come together to build stronger, safer communities.

Frequently asked questions

  • What is Women Build?

It is a Habitat for Humanity program that challenges and teaches women volunteers to participate in building safe, decent and affordable housing. Every year, tens of thousands of women participate in building Habitat homes across the globe. This is a chance for women age 18 and over, from all walks of life to help eliminate unsafe, unaffordable housing. No special skills are needed and training is provided. You will be guided by our Core Build Crew Volunteers on your build day.

  • Are men excluded from Women Build projects?

Absolutely not. Women Build isn’t about excluding anyone. It is about including women and opening new doors of opportunity.

  • What is a Typical Women Build Day like?

A typical Women Build day starts at 8 am, clean up starts around 2:00 - 2:30 and ends around 3 pm. A safety talk begins each day so we ask everyone to arrive by 8 to check in and get right into orientation. Volunteers will work in groups on particular assignments that is needed at the phase of construction at the time.

Women Build Fundraising Members will be given Habitat Women Build t-shirts, lunch and waters will be provided. We ask that you wear sturdy shoes/boots and work clothes. No open toed shoes are allowed on the construction site. Wear clothing that you don't mind getting dirty.

  • Can I support without lifting a hammer?

Absolutely! Sign up to Fundraise for Women Build and you can help in other ways such as doing photography, handing out flyers, picking up lunch or helping to set up or clean up on build days. Building Habitat homes and Women Build programs are not possible without financial support. Any level of contribution is appreciated!

  • Do you have any Fundraising Tips?

    • Develop an outreach list of people in your network/social circle that would support you and the Women Build. Send texts or emails with the link to your donation page. Let them know you are trying to reach a goal of $300 to secure your spot on a build day at our Habitat home in Nashua in May.

    • Make Targeted Asks. For example, ask your friends, family, neighbors or co-workers for an amount you are comfortable asking. $20 will help buy a couple of paint brushes, $50 will help buy one gallon of paint. The minimum donation we request is $10.00

    • Inquire about Donation Matches from your corporate group, church, or other organizations you are involved with.

    • Utilize Social Media by asking your friends and followers to consider donating. Remind potential donors that all donations to Greater Nashua Habitat for Humanity are Tax-Deductible and will be designated for the Home you help build.
  • Can I start my own Team as a Group?

YES! You can Recruit and Build a Team of up to 10 women. You can build a team with co-workers, family, church groups, athletic groups, etc. Anyone age 18+ is welcome.*

Ensure all members sign up on your fundraising team on Givebutter. It is easy to share your link to family and friends to donate or sign up to fundraise on your team. Create a Team Name that fits and reflects you and your team members!

Make sure your name is a positive reflection of the mission of Greater Nashua Habitat for Humanity.
