Milford – Greater Nashua Habitat for Humanity will begin the construction of a duplex home on Tonella Road, in Milford, in a few weeks.  It will hold a meeting that is open to all members of the public in order to answer questions related to this project and to increase its volunteer pool in Milford and the surrounding area.  This is an opportunity for local residents and for potential volunteers to meet Greater Nashua Habitat for Humanity leaders and to learn about the organization’s efforts.

The organization also seeks the opportunity to reach local business owners willing to donate goods spanning from meals for volunteers to labor and construction equipment use.  The organization will answer questions about this specific project as well as questions from those interested in partnering with Habitat for Humanity to become home-owners in future projects.  At the moment the organization is also in the planning stages to build homes in Wilton and Nashua and is seeking applications from families for these properties.

This “Habitat Information Night” meeting will be held at the Boys and Girls Club of Souhegan Valley, located at 56 Mont Vernon Street, in Milford, (New Hampshire, 03055), from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, February 8th, 2010. (more…)

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY TO HOLD MEETING FOR POTENTIAL HOME APPLICANTS, VOLUNTEERS

Monday, April 6th, 2009

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The organization is still looking for interested applicants and for volunteers to help begin construction in the spring

Nashua – Greater Nashua Habitat for Humanity will hold a Habitat Information Night meeting for those who are interested in applying or who have already submitted applications for homes.  Those interested in volunteering for construction projects, beginning this spring, are urged to attend. The meeting will be held this coming Monday, April 13th, from 7:00pm to 8:00pm at the Greater Nashua Habitat for Humanity Annex Office, Main Street United Methodist Church, 154 Main Street, Nashua, New Hampshire (03060).  The application process, requirements for applicants, possible ways in which applicants might overcome obstacles in the application process, and an explanation of how families are ultimately selected will all be discussed during this meeting.  Current volunteer needs, particularly for Construction Team Leaders to help direct inexperienced volunteers, will be discussed.

Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry that seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action.  Habitat invites people of all backgrounds, races and religions to build houses together in partnership with families in need.

If you are interested in volunteering for the Greater Nashua Habitat for Humanity, this meeting will also include a thorough discussion of the organization’s mission, history, and the specific volunteer needs in the area.  Everyone is welcome.  Please reserve your space at this meeting by contacting President Jerry Harrow at office@nashabitat.org; over 40 volunteers and applicants attended last month’s Habitat Information Night, potential volunteers and potential home applicants are urged to reserve a space at the meeting as soon as possible.  (more…)

Now Accepting Home Applications

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS
Properties in Milford, Nashua, and Wilton Could be Within Reach for Many Families

Nashua – The Greater Nashua Habitat for Humanity is accepting applications for three properties in the Greater Nashua Area.  The three construction projects will begin to unfold over the next few months and span two-to-three years.  Families interested in becoming Habitat home owners are strongly urged to contact the organization

President Jerry Harrow emphasized the importance of imparting this information throughout churches, community centers, non-profit organizations and government entities who are concerned with alleviating housing problems. “There are many families who might not realize that Habitat for Humanity might help bridge those gaps that otherwise prevent home ownership, particularly in this economic climate”.  Harrow pointed out that Habitat for Humanity partners with families in order to help them become home owners and relies on their volunteer work and the volunteer work of others to help bridge those gaps.  “Once the home is erected by all these volunteers, the fact that it was built through volunteer efforts affords the new homeowner the opportunity to purchase the home at a zero-percent interest rate mortgage – all for about the cost of a rental apartment ($1000 per month inclusive of taxes and insurance).  Habitat is very fortunate that it can offer three opportunities concurrently and as our organization continues to grow we anticipate being able to offer more home ownership opportunities”.  (more…)
