Greater Nashua Habitat for Humanity is asking members of the Greater Nashua community for any space where the organization could park its truck.

“EMC has graciously allowed us to park in their lot for the past couple of years, but cannot extend that privilege” stated Building Committee Chairman Eric Moore.

The truck carries all the supplies and materials that the organization drives to a number of sites throughout the Greater Nashua area for work. This means the truck is actively used, driven, and maintained. It is anticipated that the truck will be parked semi-permenantly in Milford once the organization begins the construction of a duplex in that area this coming spring – so it is likely any space donated for this purpose will only be needed for a handful of months, between now and the start of the Milford project.

If you have any knowledge of space or you have the availability of space for our truck, please contact Eric Moore at eric.moore@nashuahabitat.org. You can also leave a message at our main office: 603.883.0295 or drop an email to Marie and Jen at office@nashuahabitat.org.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY SEEKS CONSTRUCTION VOLUNTEERS
Task Supervisors and Leaders Needed to Tackle Busiest Period in its History

Nashua – Habitat for Humanity is looking for volunteers with all levels of experience in construction but is placing emphasis on the need for those experienced in supervision, management, training and who can work consistently with the organization for the foreseeable future. Habitat construction work typically takes place on Saturdays but the organization would like to eventually spread its work into weekdays. The first upcoming project Habitat for Humanity will tackle in Nashua is the construction of a home on Ridge Street, in the French Hill area of the city, beginning this spring.

Eric Moore, Chairman of the Building Committee and a member of the Board of Directors has stated that “there is a need for task supervisors and leaders”. Moore emphasized: “Clearly, we need help with organizing and identifying materials; help with parallel small projects as they come up so we don’t miss that need in the community. We need anybody skilled in the trades – we need plumbing and electrical help and excavation support quite soon as we prepare to build on Ridge Street. We want to get far ahead enough to finish the house in the winter and be ready to start the next construction project soon after that. The target is to close up the Ridge Street home by October – closing it up means that the home is completely framed, the roof is finished, and the windows are finished – it means the doors and windows are fully installed. In the spring there will be outdoor work if we don’t get to it this fall – but we’re talking about landscaping. If we can close the house without landscaping in the fall we will be right on track anyway.”

Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry that seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. Habitat invites people of all backgrounds, races and religions to build houses together in partnership with families in need.

To volunteer in any of the capacities mentioned above, please contact the Habitat for Humanity office at 603-883-0295; send an email to office@nashabitat.org, or fill an online volunteer form here.

# # #

If you would like more information about this topic, or to schedule an interview with Eric Moore, please call Ed Lopez at 603-883-0295 or email Ed at ed.lopez@nashabitat.org.
