Despite Bumpy Road, A Happy Ending

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NASHUA – Greater Nashua Habitat for Humanity is happy to announce we recently purchased a house in Hudson, which will eventually be home to the Hughes family. There are plans to renovate and add-on to the home, but the plans are conditional based on town approval.
The happy ending to this story came after a bumpy road for the Hughes family, who were originally slated to move into a duplex on Tonella Road in Milford. Because of construction delays and questions about the suitability of the land for building, the project had to be shelved and the Hughes found themselves one step away from homelessness.
After publicity about their situation, the Hughes were able to find suitable temporary housing. In the meantime, Habitat volunteer Lisa Goulet went to work finding another home for the Hughes family.
The Hughes, Bob and Stephanie, and their two children live in Hudson and hoped to stay in the area so their children would not have to change schools again.
A house came on the market in the fall in Hudson that was within Habitat’s price range, and was, by happy coincidence, a house Bob Hughes had once brought to the attention of Habitat, suggesting it might make a good home for his family.
Habitat purchased the home at 24 Adelaide St. for $70,000. Volunteers hope to start renovations in the spring.
