VolunteerUp!

Friday, March 12th, 2010

Dear Habitat for Humanity Supporter/Volunteer ,
As we prepare for the start of our new duplex construction project on Tonella Rd in Milford this spring, Habitat has adopted a new on-line volunteer management program called VolunteerUp! It is always a challenge, matching up volunteers with actual jobs in our organization. This new system will allow you to more specifically express your skills/interests, and enable you to make updates over time. It will also eliminate unnecessary paper work (saving both trees and processing time), and allow us to target requests to volunteers interested in a specific area of work.

To make this new system the most effective, we need all volunteers to register with the on-line system and fill-out their profile. Because this system replaces our previous use of the printed volunteer forms, we ask all those interested in volunteering to please register on VolunteerUp even if you have submitted the prior on-line form, or paper forms in the past.

If you haven’t previously registered on VolunteerUp, register by clicking the button above (or on the left side bar of www.nashuahabitat. org). Follow the instructions for “I am a New Volunteer” on the right side of the page. As you complete your profile, you will note that some fields are mandatory and others are optional. The system will not allow you to register if you do not complete the mandatory fields.

Special Notes
Please be sure to write down your username and password so that you can go back into the system and sign up for future activities.
By registering on VolunteerUP you will automatically be added to our email list for the exclusive use of Habitat. Your email will not be shared with any other entity.
All volunteers interested in construction projects regardless of area of specialization or level of ability should additionally check the General Construction skill in the Construction section.

Once your profile is complete, you can sign up to volunteer at an activity such as Construction, Office Support, or an Event such as a Yard Sale. Just click on “Return to Calendar” and click on the appropriate activity. Check out the activity details, see who else is registered, choose if you want the system to send you an email reminder, and click “Update” to confirm your registration when you’re done.

All scheduling is now being done through this new system. Volunteers are encouraged to check the system periodically as new activities are being added all the time. If a schedule change is made to an activity you’ve volunteered for, the system will send out an email to let you know of that change.

When volunteering for construction, please download and complete the waiver and bring it with you the first day you volunteer at a build site. Parents must complete and sign the special form for minors. (Students must be 16 or older to be on the build site during construction. )

Thanks for your support,
The Habitat Volunteer Management Team
