Build – October 4

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

This Saturday, we’ll again be helping the Greater Manchester affiliate with their 4 Dutton Street duplex project. It will just be for the morning, to allow them to bring in a crew of younger helpers for clean-up in preparation for their Sunday 5th open house. Inside, work will continue installation of the laminate floors, hanging doors, installing base boards, etc. Outside, finish the stairs.

Newsletter Assembly Party – October 1

We need 10-20 volunteers to help complete the assembly
of our Habitat fall newsletter next Weds Oct 1st 6pm-
9pm.   Feel free to come for any portion of the time.

We have about 2100 pieces to fold, stuff, & label but with
enough help it goes quickly!    Last time we finished early.

Inside, work will continue installation of the laminated floors, hanging doors, installing base boards, painting, etc. Outside, fix the decking, install steps and rails, etc. (long-range weather forecast looks good).

Saturday weather forecast looks decent, so we’re planning to finish the ramp we started ten days ago at 44 Palm Street, Nashua: Finish railings, gates, and lattice under deck.

Update: Looks like significant rain should hold off much of the day on Saturday, so we’ll go ahead with the 44 Palm Street job as outlined below. See you around 9:00 AM.

Weather permitting, we’re planning to finish the ramp we started ten days ago at 44 Palm Street, Nashua: Add lower ramp, install all railings, add steps and gate. Extend porch roof and add lattice under deck.

The agenda includes a video about the work of Habitat for Humanity, a presentation about our work locally in the Greater Nashua area, and an opportunity to meet with local Habitat leaders to help match your interests with an appropriate volunteer opportunity.

Current Volunteer Needs :

  • Office Staff:  Pick up mail, Answer Emails & Phone Calls, Filing, Data Entry, and General Office Work
  • Material Donations Handling: Respond to material donations — coordinate pickup.
  • Materials & Inventory: Keeping the storage trailer organized and inventoried
  • Construction Team Leaders: Help direct inexperience volunteers

We always need committed volunteers to help in all areas. Particularly, volunteer processing, office management, web site development, public relations, and general committee work. All those background items that enable us to fulfill our mission of building homes for people in need.
